When a page on your site does not load, an error message shall be shown to the visitor. Since there are different errors, there are different pages that'll display, but what's typical for all of them is that they're generic and probably will have nothing that is similar to the design of your site, which can be aggravating for any website visitor. This is the primary reason why hosting companies have introduced a function known as Custom Error Pages. For a range of different errors, website visitors will see your customized content, which can be informative or humorous, in accordance with your choice, and that will match the overall style and design of your Internet site, so the pages shall not look like they aren't part of your website at all. You can use this option for a number of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting
When you purchase a cloud hosting plan
from us, you will be able to set personalized error pages for your Internet sites quickly and easily, because this feature is part of all our solutions. After you have created the files and uploaded them to your hosting account, you can go to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia CP and click on the Edit button for the particular domain or subdomain. In the pop-up that will be displayed, you shall see drop-down options menus for all four sorts of errors and for each one of them you may choose an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a custom made page. Should you select the 3rd option, you should just input the URL to the file that you've uploaded then save the change. A different way to set custom made error pages is to set up an .htaccess file inside the domain or subdomain folder and to add several lines of code in it. If you don't have preceding experience or if you're just uncertain how to do this, you could simply copy/paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that matter.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
All of the semi-dedicated hosting plans
that we offer support custom made error pages and it shall not take more than several clicks in your Hepsia web hosting Control Panel to use this function. The option is available in the Hosted Domains section of your CP where you'll need to input the links to the custom-made files using basic drop-down menus and an easy to work with interface. Needless to say, you should upload them inside your account before that. If you do not need to use this function at some point, you will be able to disable it just as quickly and select an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be displayed whenever your visitors encounter an error. If you'd like to, you can also use an .htaccess file to enable the custom made error pages. The file should contain a specific line of code as well as a link for every error type and you can easily discover an example of the whole content for all four error types in our Help section.
